Spirituality and EnvironmentalismEco-yoga & Eco-adventure
With Clayton Horton and David Lurey
Private Island of LaoLiang- Thailand
November 6 - November 13, 2010
Greenpath yoga teachers Clayton Horton and David Lurey are reunited in Thailand after a few years of independent travel and teaching around the globe to co-teach this private island yoga adventure. Treat yourself while refining your personal practice and reconnecting with your true nature. This will be a unique and empowering week of eco-yoga and eco-adventure on the gorgeous private island of Lao Liang in the Andaman Sea off the west coast of Southern Thailand . Clayton and David will create a dynamic week of morning asana practices to open up the body to harmonize with the magical nature of this tropical paradise which has long been the local's secret spot.
Daytimes can be full of adventures like rock climbing, snorkeling, diving and a diversity of island activities or simply for relaxing and taking personal time with the island and surrounding area. Morning yoga sessions will include breathwork and simple meditations. Students will have their choice of led asana with David and supervised self practice (Ashtanga Mysore style) with Clayton. Afternoon sessions will vary depending upon the flow of the group but are sure to include AcroYoga, Eco-Yoga Wisdom Circles, Green Yoga Interactive activities as well as specific asana workshops to help deepen your practice. Evenings will be for sharing music and community time as Clayton and David used to do each Tuesday in San Francisco! Expect kirtan, heart songs and surprise pop songs that will have everyone singing with joy!
Explore yoga's connection to sustainability and environmentalism from two pioneers of the Green Yoga movement. As a philosophical format for the week, Clayton and David will introduce the Green Affirmations of the Yamas & Niyamas, which act as a set of foundational ethical guidelines to reduce suffering and to assist practitioners on the path to self realization and liberation. Through these dedicated and devotional teachings, you will engage in developing a bridge between the Ashtanga Yoga of Patanjali and the present day Environmental movement. It is Clayton and David's intention for all participants to gain personal inspiration and encourage intelligent living and responsible planetary stewardship and leave the retreat ready to implement new ideas into daily life and share the knowledge and insights of using Yogic values to live in harmony with the Earth.
